Dormant Utility Service Technician is a run/jump/climb non-combat, sci fi, funky 2D platformer casualvania where you control a recently cryo-awakened galactic utility technician.  (current version:  009)

This demo serves as the prequel to the EPIC story that is featured in the full version.  The controls for this demo are at the bottom of this post (controller and keyboard supported)

There are two modes in this demo (VR and regular).  You start in "VR" mode, which (just a gimmick) features more platform-oriented gameplay  Proceed to the right (you can go past the tree) to explore the "VR" mode.  Pressing <Start>/(escape) should exit the "VR" mode, to the regular mode, where you walk around and interact with things, get a cutscene and it's over.  To get back to "VR mode" from the regular mode,  just interact with the bed.  VR mode has a little fanfare scene for completing the puzzle, but is not requirement for the storyline in regular mode.  *VR mode is not a feature of the main game, where the platforming is more objective/exploration-based

This is dope, hope a full game comes!

It's still in the works, kinda on the backburner for a few months for freelance work but - building this game is the thing i want to do the most - i still have a bunch of work to do but i'll prob do another devlog again soon to let ppl know i'm still super motivated with it.   and thanks for the comment, it means a lot!

Yea it can be hard to keep up on projects. I love the environment and character in the in game world. Definitely put some devlogs out so we know you're working on it. Keep it up!

I was confused many times. Why the thing happens? Did it happen? From wall jumps to text skipping in dialog and interactions with things. Did I caused it? Is this supposed to happen? No clear distinction of cutscene from the gameplay.

fair enough ^^ thanks for trying it :D

i just posted a video of a full playthrough, if anyone is stuck or just wants to watch instead.  it has no commentary, just a walkthrough tour of the demo:

Love the aesthetic. Music is perfect. Sprite animations are wonderful, especially the swimming! Not sure if I saw everything, but what I saw was great. Nice surprise going into the 'real world'. I hope the glider makes it into the rest of the game. That glider is genuine fun, especially because you can double jump after deploying. Lotsa opportunities for fun platforming with that. Keep it up!

oh thank you so much for the feedback!  Yes the glider and double jump combo is in the main game too!  :D
