Ok, so thanks to everyone for the comments and feedback!  I noticed some people were missing that you can go past the tree on the first screen of "VR" mode, so i added a sign for more clarity, hoping it will get people to feel more "in the spirit" of exploration :P

Also, i have been hearing that the jump still didn't feel right, so i addressed the 2 issues

1.  there was a stickiness on landing that felt wrong

2.  if you jumped from a standstill, the jump was considerably lower than if you were holding a direction

So i have made one last update to this demo, barring any other bugs, and it addresses all these issues.  I can't stress how big of a deal it was to get this demo up and getting it actually tested because it has helped me make some pretty crucial decisions that are essential for my progress on the main version, so thank you everyone for playing and sharing your thoughts.  Full speed ahead!
