Dormant Utility Service Technician DEMO launch!


Hello, I'm Mike and I am making a chill 2D exploration platformer called Dormant Utility Service Technician and I'm releasing this as a demo but also as a little prequel to the main game.  I'm not a pro developer, this is my first project.  I've always loved those atmospheric platformer games like Knytt Stories and Seiklus, so I'm using those as a starting point of inspiration, but the main game will expand on that - with multiple worlds, a top-down overworld, story choices, etc.  I'm using this project as a way to use that inspiration to learn all about what goes into making games from scratch... I've learned so much already, as my only background in games is as a musician.

The gameplay is about movement, both vertical and horizontal, with climbing as the main mechanic (besides normal jumping).  There are also powerups, like "double jump" and "hang glider" that will help get around some obstacles that would otherwise block or prevent your progress.  This demo is only a tiny slice of that gameplay, just enough to get the idea across, while the other half of this demo is meant to provide a setting and story background.

The full game has been in development for over a year now, and I'm so inexperienced I have no idea how to estimate... I'd guess years, for me to complete, but I am under no commercial pressure and am just having fun out there.  If you're still reading this, STOP and go take the demo for a spin, you could have played half way through it by now!  D:
